How Breathwork Changed My Life: From Survival to Self-Trust and Expansion

In my very first breathwork session, I thought, Wow, that was powerful. I definitely felt a shift in my energy. I released emotion, and I gained some clarity around a problem that had been swirling around in my brain—something that had been haunting me for a long time.

But then… life went on.

It wasn’t until five years later, when I began recognizing painful patterns in my life and feeling so stuck in my unhappiness, that I started to take my breathwork practice seriously. I literally would have done anything to take the pain away. The few moments of peace I experienced during guided breathwork sessions were some of the only healthy ways I had to cope.

Pairing Breathwork with Purpose

I joined two different programs and began pairing breathwork with the work I was doing around studying my purpose. That’s when it began having a tremendous impact—not just on my mindset, but on how I felt day-to-day in my body.

For the first time in a long time, I found relief from those debilitating thoughts and constant worry. I became aware of what was actually triggering those thought loops.

Breathwork helped me begin to recognize what was draining my energy—and what wasn’t worth it.

It also showed me where I needed to reclaim my power.

Instead of staying stuck in overwhelm, I started to relax into aligned action—getting crystal clear on my goals and vision, and actually creating a step-by-step plan to get there.

There are so many shifts, breakthroughs, and moments of self-reflection I’ve experienced through this practice—it’s hard to capture them all.

But what truly surprised me was what began to emerge from within. My entire perspective on life awakened.

I began to recognize the value in the small, everyday miracles that I had once overlooked. My creativity blossomed. My intuition opened up like a portal of infinite wisdom.

What started as a simple way to survive my anxiety and depression turned out to be a catalyst for discovering purpose, gifts, and personal power I never knew existed inside me. It was like I lit a spark to my potential.

Consistency Is the Key to Transformation

What I hadn’t realized until I fully implemented this was that random sessions here and there—once a year or once a month—just weren’t enough to keep me in a state of nervous system regulation, calm, and expansion.

What I needed—and what I did—was integrate breathwork into my life multiple times a week, and combine it with mindset work and deep purpose inquiry.

That is what made the biggest difference.

That is how I found the strength to trust myself again, take bold action, and make big changes that completely shifted my life’s trajectory.
